What Survival Brings
That little light fading
Conceals the criminal neglect
Bruises are just shading
Gives you time to reflect
What’s another broken soul
No carving up the pain
There’s the black hole
Filling up with rain
Memories the new rape
Burn effigies on the fire
As the demons take shape
Sanity is teetering on the wire
When hope and fears
Did the round
Cries of different tears
The only sound
Darkness always reaches out
Pulling the strings
Living inside doubt
Is what survival brings
Conceals the criminal neglect
Bruises are just shading
Gives you time to reflect
What’s another broken soul
No carving up the pain
There’s the black hole
Filling up with rain
Memories the new rape
Burn effigies on the fire
As the demons take shape
Sanity is teetering on the wire
When hope and fears
Did the round
Cries of different tears
The only sound
Darkness always reaches out
Pulling the strings
Living inside doubt
Is what survival brings
