Romanian River Oak
If a tree falls in the forest, does it make a sound?
From the forest to the stage
A tree makes a journey
A transformation
And it becomes something entirely different
But certain trees
Have a special purpose
The process
From logger to manufacturer
Through craftsman, artists and artisans
Is a miracle at the hands of men
And the final product
Are drums to be heard
From living rooms and garages
To studios and concert halls
All around the world
But there is a story of an old tree
An ancient tree
That fell into the Olt River some 1500 years ago
And the tree laid dormant
Void of oxygen and sunshine
Until its discovery
The bog-wood oak
Submerged in water and silt
Rich in texture and history
Emerged like a sacred artifact
To be crafted into something
That some could call
Legendary
Everything has a purpose
A mystery, a destiny
And this bog-wood oak
Would be chosen by Neil
To be part of his last tour
And he aptly named them
“Monsters from the Deep”
So if a tree falls in the forest, does it make a sound?
I say it resonates
With a timeless echo
For millions and millions to hear
From the forest to the stage
A tree makes a journey
A transformation
And it becomes something entirely different
But certain trees
Have a special purpose
The process
From logger to manufacturer
Through craftsman, artists and artisans
Is a miracle at the hands of men
And the final product
Are drums to be heard
