The Stranger

The distant stranger
arrived tethered to his past
to his convictions
anchored to his guilt
consumed with loss
with tragedy
with doubt
and joined the Spanish ramblers
careening high across the crusted plains
only to be met by another stranger
equally tethered, convicted and loathsome
and he never felt more at home.
