Big Brother
This poem symbolizes the Big Brother Concept, first thought of from reading works of George Orwell. If you get confused, look it up. I'll make a lot more sense.
I can be comforting.
I can rest by your side like an old dog.
I can wag my tail and follow you slowly,
Just out of reach.
I could be your other piece,
Your missing heart.
I could hold you down and whisper,
Right into the chasms of you ear.
I could make your eardrum bust,
Without saying anything audible.
I could enlighten you,
Until you evolve into something else.
But don’t you dare step out of line,
I made you like this.
I could just as easily knock you over.
I have the control, the power, the strength,
To do whatever I want to you.
You can’t stop me.
So you keep your mouth shut,
You close those eyes tight and turn the other cheek.
You’re not going to like my knuckles,
You’re not going to like my love,
Unless you look away and hold your breath.
We’re in this together, for better or worse.
And I may not be your guardian angel,
I may not be your god.
But you better be fruitful and multiply,
Or I’ll rip out that seed and plant it myself.
If I can swim away to higher land,
You certainly can.
I’ll hold you, I’ll warm your soul,
Right down to its shivering bones.
But as soon as you struggle,
I’ll squeeze that spark out of you,
Like a broken light bulb,
Shattered.
Damnit, we’re in this together,
No matter what.
You could run away like a lost phantom,
Pure with exasperation and desperation.
But I’ll sniff you out, through the forest,
Through the trees, under the dirt.
And when I find you, I’ll break you.
I may be an old dog, pissing on my fur,
But I know there’s only so much you can endure.
As soon as you get tired from all that running,
I’ll sneak up and bite your calf,
And let you bleed out our love.
I can be comforting.
I can rest by your side like an old dog.
I can wag my tail and follow you slowly,
Just out of reach.
I could be your other piece,
