Her Eyes

She looked at me
As if she might find the stars
As if lifting her gaze
Might just rip us apart
And when her lips met my own,
They melted
Into cravings so deep
I felt them
Exploding into the sun
Ecstatic abyss
Turned inside out
And set adrift
Intent on finding space
In the freckled sky
To flaunt the diamonds
In her soulful eyes
Cast ablaze
Wings spread wide
The Phoenix sings of
A chapter's demise
