If we were to die
If you were to die
by sickness or violence
we’d wail to sad songs
eat chips all day long
there’d be no routine
and far too much screens
And we’d grieve much longer
than folks find convenient.
If I were to die
by violence or sickness
there’d be purpose and plans
grief expressed in busy hands
you'd find solace in chores
and tears behind closed doors
And those bottled-tight feels
would make you all distant.
It’s good that there are two of us now.
For the sake of balance, let’s both stick around.
