Neighbours

Tracey’s jacking up again;
She’s fallen off the wagon.
Roy’s slumped out the back; drinkin
Vodka by the flagon.

Steph’s distancing, but getting it in;
Wearing bruises like she’s bragging.
The new couple? always arguing;
Last night I heard him slapping..

Living in, this societal bin,
Hope drains, my spirit flagging..
Yet no one garenteed, an awakening,
Would be filled with light and magic.

No judgement, I begin, connecting
With the ones who seemed so tragic.
Laughter knowledge compassion hope
Were the gifts, given free, from the “Damaged”.

Epiphanies emerge and you don’t see them coming,
That is their power, stealth and cunning,
Forcing reboot;  from “ego mode” running.
Reaffirm value, material wealth is nothing.

The gift multiplies, when you raise up the low.
See living in bin, gave me courage, you know?
I’m learning how much! it’s ok to let go;
Emotional baggage, it weighs down my soul.
Face the sun, find self love, let myself grow.
See the blessing in the lesson, reawakened, made whole.
