Desiderate

It’s during the time of day
deafening white noise
piercing quiet
& the Owl family now
asleep. . .
i wish my dreams
would ferry me over
catch a cloud,
niveous magic carpet
to events of my
yesterday.

I might travel to fond
places, stuck in
childhood memories --
Hawaiian beaches,
secret sacred
waterfalls,
a kiss on the cheek
of my first crush,
lying on my back
underwater watching
the rain bomb the
surface, or scared
but in an awe way
holding my breath
watching a shark
swim by. . .

but this morning
there are no clouds
only skies riddled
with stars and the
night.

My dreams will have
to engage my
waking loneliness
take me on a trip
alabaster clouds
headed for my
tomorrows.
