Image for the poem hush

hush

in the stillness a hush comes over my spirit
my soul slows in tune with her...nature
the trees reach heavenward in praise of father sky

the ether is alive
wind talkers rustle the leaves with ancient vows
the earth awake and aware

I cleave to the breasts of mother mountaintops
in her valleys I take shelter
on a mossy bed of enlightenment I ponder

my soul takes flight through the forests
down the plains following a lazy river
snaking its way through the sacred canyons
into the ocean vast

I walk slowly along the shore
collecting the tiny gifts she bestows upon me
little tiny shells worth more than gold
for they are his handiwork

the creator the grand designer of things great and small
I will traverse nature filling my soul of it's void
until my voice rings true again
then I will shout from the mountains

I am grateful for life
human...be one with her
earth...there isn't another like her
