Sadness as a Color
She wore sadness as a color
Those who knew her, knew her mother
With dark shades from long ago
Etching stories around her eyes
With dark endings, no surprise
She’s just stuck in a time long ago
Somewhere in the streets
Just as they fall asleep
Under the rain of all her falling pain
She searches for lost ghost
All her demons she keeps close
And only answer when calling them by name
Maybe somewhere in the hills
Where the gypsies give her pills
She can find the perfect shade of black
As she rolls into the stars
That cut her deep and leave dark scars
She prays, she won’t ever come back
She hums a song called Yellow
Hoping the color will make her mellow
But sadness beats drums into the night
The gypsies gather to look on
And they try their best to sing along
As she passes into the darkest shades of light
Those who knew her, knew her mother
With dark shades from long ago
Etching stories around her eyes
With dark endings, no surprise
She’s just stuck in a time long ago
Somewhere in the streets
Just as they fall asleep
Under the rain of all her falling pain
She searches for lost ghost
All her demons she keeps close
And only answer when calling them by name
Maybe somewhere in the hills
Where the gypsies give her pills
She can find the perfect shade of black
As she rolls into the stars
That cut her deep and leave dark scars
She prays, she won’t ever come back
She hums a song called Yellow
Hoping the color will make her mellow
But sadness beats drums into the night
The gypsies gather to look on
And they try their best to sing along
As she passes into the darkest shades of light
