Enduring

In during
Feeling shudders of unrest
I reach for home

And in the great following
Where my soul drags curled tiptoe
Longing for terra firma

My heart turns to my mothers breast for comfort

There I learn grateful enduring
And pain becomes a place ....
of worthwhile suffering

A place where the light of God
Fills dark and damaged spaces

His mercy
At night, after a prayer whispered
Asking for sweet sleep
Comes like my Mother's voice

Soft and filled with grace
