Image for the poem Chains

Chains

Behind these
The dark of dark hearts
But the light in your eyes

These chains do bind
Holding precious, strongholds
Oh God, but you are on my mind

In my winter's place
I do pace and find this pendulum sway

Horrified
Seduced
Clinched teeth
Bowed dreamy eyes

Like a plumbob of red hot rock
And my face can feel the heat of it

And I'm kept
Keeping safe what has never been wept
Behind these
And the light of your eyes
