Almost lunch time
I woke up today searching for matching socks
I haven't had the energy to match socks in years
the smallest things become the largest chores
and I always find myself wanting to do more
I've opened the window instead
there's a comforting breeze and the birds have come with spring
it's dreary but clearing, sort of like my head
my dog lies at my feet while I lie back down in bed
the important things are done
(but I suspect I haven't fooled anyone)
my dog's sad eyes match mine
and if I start to cry I know he'll start to whine
it's like he knows what I feel inside
a chance glance outside my window spies a bunny
hop, hop, hopping across my lawn
I view this as a positive sign
it's almost lunch time.
