I Call Upon The Molweni

The Molweni River, bows down beneath the ruggedness of Everton Gorge.
Her beauty aroused, as she joins
The Nhukutu along it's a steep descent.
through the pink sandstone cliffs.

A spray of fine mist conceals the
granite as the sun looks down from
 a cloudless sky.
Silence
but for the sound of a hushed murmur,
made by the force of the spiral wind,
that tells of the Gorges submissive role now, centuries old.

In the pool below the falls,  maidenhair fern now laden with the spill of the river closes her fronds,  allowing moss and lichen to stretch and receive their portion of moisture
Sharing it's wealth among the boulder-strewn river valley, is wild orchid
exotic contrast in shades of Fuschia and Scarlett dominate the landscape
Orchid  opens her petals and extends her  vibrant color into the balmy air

The river's presence captivates me it's  power defines my meekness leaving
me no less than humble as I  walk this valley floor
Surrounded by her awesome beauty changes my concept as it overtakes time and space the sun low on the horizon it's time  I recede from her forested floor to take my place high above the Molweni  River.

Author's Note
The Molweni River in South Africa had become the victim of tourism she began to die as a result Countless plans to rejuvenate her fell flat One such plan was to install a false canopy over the gorge to disperse a false rain forest effect . . nothing has been done as yet to repair the damage done to this beautiful river
