the best things in life
are gone too soon
short lived
i wasn’t ready to let you go
like a butterfly tattoo
placed perfectly on my wrist
beautiful in every way
soaked in water, so it would stay
days after, i watched it soar
upon my skin
riding the lines between
i miss you, those feelings
love, nurture
safety
butterfly tattoo
still vibrant blue
it didn’t seem like long
before the wrinkles in your wings
had formed
faded into my body
don’t leave me again, this time
i can’t wash it off
dirty, worth it..
it’s alright
maybe it was the tears that soaked you
like the ones i left before
in that scary room
why can’t this be permanent
