Asteroids in Eternity

I stand in the middle of this once chaotic city,
The residues of traffic are zooming past me.
The droning of neon lights still buzz in my ear,
The curtains they have already fallen,
What am I doing here?

I dream of a time when spirits roamed the day,
I dream of a time when the night meant dismay.
In my trance I remember this city's commotion,
Fields of grey around me, bound in stone.

I saw a time when no one sought the unknown,
I saw a time when no soldier would march on.
In my dreams I felt a torture, my flesh it bled,
Burned in my blood were, all the shades of red.

Damned for eternity I saw the asteroids in flight,
Unknown to me the moments they carry,
Unknown to me when they would die.
