S.A.A.T.

So in the hourglass, I can foresee my reflection,
As the sand slips by without goodbye or regret,
And though I cannot forget the pain and sorrow,
The promise of tomorrow smiles with a sunset.
So my mind travels back to those days, to that daze,
A phase where the hurt razed me and left me destroyed,
All of me was broken, all the hurt went unspoken,
The gory story of my purgatory drowned me in a void.
Still my memory relives and forgives but never forgets,
All the hurt and anguish as I languished in the dark,
Ah dear reverie, why is it that you find it necessary?
To remember tempers and embers dying in a spark.
Silently the recollection takes me to a page forgotten,
As if my subconscious is awakened and enlightened,
As depths of an old emotion and age downtrodden,
Tell a different tale when I was young and frightened.
Still in the hourglass with hindsight I come to understand,
All memories are time machines that never let us forget,
All the good and bad, all the happy and sad moments,
Help me understand myself more without any regret.
