Shadow in me.

Beneath the cover of flesh and bone
A sickening being lives alone
It evokes a deadly excessive pride
That becomes clear when it leaks through my eyes.

A dark and sour aloof guest is it
Who won’t pay me a single pound in rent
I’ve become a prisoner of my own born shell
Or have I forgotten signing consent?

It rises up within me
Cutting off air passage ways
Preventing my soft words breaking free
Instead it replaces them with acid tongue

Isolating me from all that I love
It envies them, the attention I give
I can’t do that now, they’re all gone
Selfish demon what have you done?

Are you happy now?
You’re all I’ve got
It’s you and me
You’ve broken my will

You cast a blackness over all my thoughts
I’m going insane, you have me caught
Suffering your wrath, do you have no pity?
Disorderly fire destroying me fully.

I denied you there but then you’re off again!
What am I to do with you?
You just want to be heard
How could I have been so cruel?

You’re not an it
No you’re me
I can see you clearly now
A shadow within my blood and being.
