Summer Child
Your violet hair and summer eyes
they drew me in on the first night
the same night that you told me
of moonlight dreams and sunrise mornings
you called us drifters
said you wanted to see every rainbow that touches the earth
and kiss the clouds on which your dreams float
you had scarlet lips
and my lips were burnt from the kisses of the sun
when your lips touched mine
I saw a million tiny stars
calling my name and drawing me closer into your heart
that heart that was a blanket to my broken soul
a kiss never tasted so bittersweet
as I knew that you wanted to leave
you could never stay in a glass house for long
you wanted to see green pastures and daisy ocean waves
your smile told me that I’d always be stuck in your daydreams
that you’d always go back to that place of moonbeams and autumn sunsets
that spring roses and winter daisies will never die out
your heart was never mine, not completely
but my heart was stolen from me when you made a promise
a promise to lead me into the enteral summer nights
they drew me in on the first night
the same night that you told me
of moonlight dreams and sunrise mornings
you called us drifters
said you wanted to see every rainbow that touches the earth
and kiss the clouds on which your dreams float
you had scarlet lips
and my lips were burnt from the kisses of the sun
when your lips touched mine
