Love

We speak in silent understandings
The shorthand of love
Formed in the intimacy of knowings
For at times
Words of love have no more weight than vagrant breeze
Compared to feelings whose touch is deep
Within our heart of hearts
And aren't those moments more than words
When you awaken to a knowing
Love's purest revelation
So often spoken within a look which no words attend
Or a kiss which lingers
Lips pausing
Having found at last sweet savor
As the moment trembles
In the last faint touch of a kiss
As if it held forever
Before parting

Has the heart no more purpose than to beat
Frayed and weary
Day by day
Let your heart beat to the rhythm of my own
Speak to me in that measure known only to the heart
Felt not heard
Your soul whispering
Caressing my own
In the beauty of truth laid bare
For what is love but truth
A knowing
Seeing things as they should be
When hearts and stars align
