Green Thumb
A flower grown in radioactive soil
Insects multiply, birds linger
Love grows the garden in nuclear winter
Hollow black roots, driving deeper still
The living share what remains
The Earth chelating her own poisoned veins
We’ll wake again for even a hint of the sunrise
Endure every blight, bruise and splinter
To plant a garden in nuclear winter.
