perpetual notions

Amalgamate is an excellent word, bydk.  I particularly enjoyed how you paid attention to your endline words: your enjambments are very effective because of them. However, I am a bit torn on the periods.  While they appear aesthetically pleasing to the eye, there's a tension about them, but doesn't prevent them from being effective.  

The message is a very good one, and so true.  Expectation is a the dragon-slayer of happiness.

It’s funny you brought up punctuation. I originally organized the poem into smaller stanzas, however I enjoyed the lines “and disappointments. the farthest distance” and “it was going to be. like a confirmation” despite the periods.

If I were going to break this one into stanzas...
I would break it at the periods...as obviously
(to me)
It would make a perfectly logical... three...

how it is,

thought it was

like a confirmation
of internal inadequacies

to us.
