Minimalism
What's Your Story
Do you live
How it's told?
She Wore Snakeskin Boots
Eve
Laughed triumphantly
Toppling kingdoms.
One Day, Two Late
The wall
Crumbled
So did they.

Thank you C for diving deep :) I appreciate it.
Actually the title for the first one i had it as 'Behind every successful man is a wise woman' but upon thinking about it from a different angle, i realized that may not always be true, as in 'successful man', in some situations 'Eve' destroyed those man, depending on the circumstance. So i felt the snake at her feet could very well be boots of high heels lol. And why not ;)
As for the wall, yes it can be intrepreted in many ways, political, personal or just humans in general, of ego and stubbornness...in the end we destroy ourselves.

Brava, Layla! "What's your story" makes me wonder how my story is told. I really have no idea what said about me when. I'm not around. I guess it depends on the storyteller and, to who ever that is. I am living exactly the way they tell my story...and I don't care to know the details. Or do I. My dilemma is, am I living the stories I tell myself. Thanks for the think 😁🌷

It all started with a question we often ask of each other, 'so..what's your story?' and often times they tell us a little bit of themselves. But, what they tell, a version of themselves is it really the truth??
Do they reall live that life, or is it that they wished they lived that life?! Especially, in this day of internet, we all seem to be living parallel lives. And, to think life wasn't confusing enough lol
Thanks for dropping by GW, i'm glad you still enjoy the pondering mysteries of life :)

This is lush, so many avenues, such a great subject matter. It felt snake like, I loved it.

I knew i wanted to draw a 'sketch' of a woman from the bible, and at first mary magdalene was my subject knowing exactly where i'd go with that story but then something triggered in my mind to retrace it all the way back to the first woman and her influence, even though the bible wanted to shame her and blame her for everything. In my opinion, she was a great survivor.

Mm. First one makes me think of awareness, honesty. The throat chakra is the source of the latter, and is blocked by lies. The lies we tell ourselves, I'm not good enough, etc. The lies we tell others muddy our communication. The third eye chakra is the source of the former. It is blocked by illusions. Illusions of separation, death and life, pain and time. There is no separation, we are all part of the same webwork of energy, rising from the formless consciousness and returning to it. The opposite of death is not life, the opposite of death is birth, life is eternal, says Eckhart Tolle. Pain is the process of transformation, transformation is perpetual. There is only ever now. The past is an illusion, as is the future.
Second has it's biblical connotations, amended to our modern understanding, and is such a glorious addendum to the original sin story that you should write a book about it. Seriously. Amazing title. I'd buy it.
Third stanza puzzled me most, but I think of the word wall in a general sense. Walls we erect between each other as nations, creeds, races and more personally.
This is a really cool little vignette, packed with meaning, which is the essence of economy and I hope you do well in the comp sugah.
Your friend,
D

I'm glad you liked the title of snakeskin boots lol
How fitting, right?!
Like i mentioned above to Imperfectedstone, originally my subject was Mary Magdalene (and perhaps i might write a micro version of my interpertaion of her role in the bible and history) but later on upon thinking further i wanted to focus on Eve.
I felt in the history of humankind, behind every man successful, great or powerful there was some kind of wise, smart woman. Whether she was recognized or condemned, wasn't too far off from being Eve herself.
As for the last one, it can be interpreted in many ways, from politics, race, religion, relationships...ego, power (insecurity) but we fail to realize that its just a matter of time and everything in the end crumbles: walls, people, egos and pride.

Re. Minimalism
You have an unending sea of seamlessness ..in your expressions... that which flows well even in your of minimalist scribes...i adore that intensely Layla...added with the depths you dig out ..in such astounding magnetism & sync you make a reader with your flow..by your loaded essence & striking words verses ... Time & again i say, you are undeniably ever my foremost adored DU poet ..and i dunn know know why ..its an exuberance i feel i sync i connect with your poetics, the truth of art it conveys..& the bridges it bonds straight unto my soul .this bond us forever my dear poetess friend n beautiful soul..
Saying of the entries...the first one hits me of 'each now' its stressing existential flow so unwaveringly constant with our basal truths inspite of the imposing ups n downs...i see it as destiny , the eternal soul being in focus..inspite of all the deaths n births we pass through ... that moulds sculpts seasons the soul so steely resolute yet a delicate plasmic beauty ...
The second one i loved for the feminine protagonist so powerfully portrayed that is so revolutionarily unconventional... of a long so lopsidedly deliberately politically manufactured this sexist male chauvinistic patriarchal society that makes woman mere possessed objects of fleshy pleasure ..n a beauty that is so manipulatively equalled to meek n submissive to a man so made macho for eons n eons now... Yes thtat ' snakeskin boots' in title is such clever n effectual n harbinger of changes towards a realistic balanced society that jus sees feels souls as souls n not sexes ....
The third one is my most favorited one... title is such clever n conveying the intended twin effects ... Of the two of love , of the ' too late' emphasizing timely aspects of giving in the needed Love's labour from both ends ..else the catastrophic apocalypse such said blatantly in brevity ...Enjoying your masterstrokesvin such minimalism dear...best for the comp.& adoring you ev , light & love ev:)
