Pussy-Snatchers of New York --part 2 of 18

By D Clark 2001

Don't worry, I will be careful and make sure you don't fall into that trap tonight. Cassandra said.

I'm including present company in that. Alexis said jokingly as she laid a hand on the chest of Cassandra's blouse.

Like I said, I'll be careful. Cassandra laughed as she brushed Alexis' hand away.

Cassandra considered taking Alexis to the gay bar that her friend Sherri worked at, but thought against it. The lesbians that frequented that club were often more predatory than the men you would find in an average bar. Instead, Cassandra took Alexis to Mc Pole’s where they could drink cocktails and eat greasy, unhealthy food and not worry about counting calories for a night. After their meal, a handsome looking man actually offered to buy Cassandra a drink, the first time in months that that had happened. But Cassandra declined, knowing this night was about making Alexis feel better, not trying to hook up. Cassandra only drank two Manhattans, but Alexis had quickly drowned more than five Cosmopolitans and was soon a blubbering mess. As Alexis sobbed at the bar Cassandra told her, "This is such bullshit. You are by far the best designer there."

Between tears Alexis said, but I'm five years older than the next oldest one. They just want to keep the young blood now that I've trained all of them. So they can just shove me off. A thirty year-old woman with no husband and no job what am I going to do? I hated working for O'Hara, but I loved that job.

You will find something. You are too talented to stay unemployed for long. Cassandra's consolation didn't seem to do much good as Alexis began sobbing again. Cassandra could see some of the men in the bar eyeing her friend, having by now spotted a desperate and easy mark. Alexis, I think it's time to go.

What? I'm just getting started. Alexis protested. Cassandra could hear Alexis' speech beginning to slur.

Well, I'm your ride, Cassandra replied. And I'm saying it is time to leave. Cassandra almost said that she needed to get home because she had work tomorrow, but stopped just short of saying it aloud.

Fine, fine, Alexis grumbled. Before they were halfway to Cassandra's car, Alexis began vomiting her dinner. Cassandra held Alexis' hair back as she hurled into the street. Alexis spat a couple times, trying to remove the taste from her mouth. "Try and get all of it out, please, Cassandra asked politely.  My car is crappy enough without having puke in it.

Alexis began to pass out in the car as Cassandra drove her home, but thankfully she didn't vomit again. Cassandra pulled up to her friend’s apartment and put the car in park. Alexis was shaken awake as the car pulled to a stop. Well, I guess this is it. Alexis said after she noticed where they had parked.

"I guess so." Cassandra replied. The two of them sat in the car awkwardly while the engine ran before Alexis spoke again.

Are you sure you don't want to come up for one more drink? Alexis asked I could really use the company Alexis moved her hand over and began rubbing it up and down Cassandra's thigh.

Cassandra shocked by her friend’s behavior but knowing she was wasted calmly removed Alexis' hand and said, not tonight, I think. You should get some rest.

Alexis rubbed her eyes and looked like she was trying to keep from crying again. She said, I'm so embarrassed I'm sorry.

Don't worry about it, Cassandra said, if you are lucky you won't even remember this tomorrow. Go sleep it off. Alexis opened the car door and stumbled out of the car. After she closed the car door, Cassandra rolled down the passenger side window and asked, Do you still want to be picked up in the morning?

Alexis thought for a second and then said, no. Fuck it. I'm not going back again.

You sure you don't want the week's pay? Cassandra asked with surprise.

I'll be fine. I'll see you around, Cassandra.

OK. Keep in touch.

Will do, Alexis said as she turned to go into her apartment. Cassandra shook her head and laughed to herself over the strange night she had experienced.

Cassandra listened to the local news as she drove back. There were no more news reports about the crater, just a report of a woman who had gone missing this morning on her way to work.

Cassandra walked into her apartment and saw her sister, Anna lying on the couch with her hand covering her eyes. Anna jumped up in surprise as she heard Cassandra walk in. If Cassandra could be described as handsome, then Anna would have to be described as absolutely gorgeous. Cassandra's sister had an improbable wreath of pale golden hair, entirely unlike the rest of the dark haired women in their family. It must have been a recessive trait, because there was only one known blonde in Cassandra and Anna's entire family tree. The sisters used to joke that Anna was adopted when they were younger. With her radiant blonde hair and shapely body, Anna could have had anyone she wanted in high school or college, but usually went for the quiet, artistic type of boy. Anna had gorgeous deep blue eyes and a rosebud mouth begging to be kissed. Cassandra had always been secretly jealous of how attractive her sister was and also how outgoing she was which made it easy for her sister to make friends.
Sorry Sis, did I scare you? Cassandra asked.

Anna sighed and said, No, Cassandra. It has just been an interesting night though.

Oh yeah? Well, I almost lost my job today. What happened to you?

No shit? Anna asked. Well you said almost, so it can't be so bad. Have you seen Sherri today?

No not since the before yesterday why do you ask?

She has been acting... kind of weird."

Like how?

She was... Well, she was hitting on me earlier.

What!? Cassandra asked incredulously.

Yeah, when I was here between classes she was hanging around and kept copping feels on me whenever I was nearby. She kept saying how beautiful I was. That hasn't been like her at all since I've known her.

You're right she would never pursue someone who didn't reciprocate her feelings. And she definitely wouldn't hit on someone who she knows is straight. Cassandra saw Anna bring a finger up to her mouth and start biting it. Wait a second... Did you do anything else with her?

Well she wouldn't leave me alone and kept asking if she could kiss me. So finally I let her.

Cassandra glared at her younger sister and asked. Well, tell me. How was it?

It was good. Like, really good. She could tell I was enjoying it so she stuck her tongue in my mouth. Before I knew it, we were making out on the couch. She started touching me like she wanted to do more, but I panicked and made up an excuse about needing to go to a study group.

So, are you questioning your sexuality now? Cassandra asked. I know you haven't dated a boy in over a year. Even though Anna was past twenty years-old, Cassandra still worried about her and thought of her as her little baby sister.

Well, in light of this event I have to at least consider myself a little vicarious, don't I? I mean, I kissed girls when we played Spin the Bottle or Truth or Dare at parties in high school, but it never really meant anything. But when Sherri and I kissed, it was like we formed some sort of connection. I've never felt that with another girl before.

You do know this is a terrible idea, right?
