Image for the poem ... yesterday morning ...

... yesterday morning ...

slowly ... and with cautious intent
i nestled beside your naked form
desirous to present my unsheathed chest
as a pillow to which you'd warm

i peeled away and cursed the quilt
that had coddled you all evening long
and slid beneath it surreptitiously
rejoicing as we thronged

our skins then met and did melt together
as if meant to merge as one
and your velvet cheek finally fell upon me
and with my breast became a sum

and for one eternal moment the earth did shudder
whilst my heart turned flush and heaved
conjoined in that crib we savored decadence
reprising affinities we once conceived
