Love Letter to Super Girl
I stuffed a letter into your sleeve
while you carried me
Here is a copy
for what you said to me
Dear Super Girl,
I know of your
alternate identity
and that you think
your name might
impress me
or confuse me
My mother was a superhero
whose paintings came to life
to feed her children every
Christmas season
and every summer vacation
Yet it was not the paintings
that really captured me
it was her singular
vulnerability
She never became
big-ass name
and here's the mega-big
truth of you
You don't know it
but you spelled it
out for me
It doesn't matter
your most super
identity
is well displayed
