The digestion of trauma
invading each host
targeting different
parts of us
- communal but isolating
stuck in throat
or rapid heart
straight to gut
(not nausea,
but similar)
tense jaws
restrictive moments
The aftertaste of the recipe
- one ingredient,
maybe all
The lack of courage
is the dreaded flashback
Each time
the taste is reflective
of that first dish.
