That Tragic Mirror
And oh that mirror that taunts me so
With its wretched stare and it’s luminous glow
Its revealing nature that creeps up to show
The inner emotions and depths of our soul
That we ought not and want not to expose
And oh that tragic mirror
It’s an inescapable truth uncovering a lie
The reason behind a desperate cry
How you look at yourself straight into your eyes
Not an intimate detail can you bury or hide
And oh that tragic mirror that loves to show
All that you do not want others to know
When the sun shines through it takes away your view
When the shadow floods in it makes everything dim
It puts half of your face in darkness and black
Leaving one half of you left for you to stare at
And oh how that mirror can make everything new
Unveiling the truth and presenting just you
With its wretched stare and it’s luminous glow
