The Past, Present & Future...
Cups, pentacles, wands and swords
The fool - nothing can harm you, go ahead and take a risk
The magician - with new beginnings
But when he is upside down - trickery and deception, careful who you trust.
Will I ever get my head around these?
Shuffle, reshuffle some more...
The lovers card - an important choice to be made with reference to true desires rather than duty.
The chariot - victory. Be self reliant and you will gain success.
Justice - good judgment. The righting of a wrong.
The hanged man - a temporary pause in life. Go with the flow and accept change.
The devil - unyielding power, tyranny and lust. Unbreakable bonds.
But....
If the cards are dealt upside down
the meaning is reversed...
Maybe if I gaze into a crystal ball
would I find the answers?
I know my past, I am living my present
Could you be my future?
The fool - nothing can harm you, go ahead and take a risk
The magician - with new beginnings
But when he is upside down - trickery and deception, careful who you trust.
Will I ever get my head around these?
Shuffle, reshuffle some more...

this poem is well thought out - not just penned in the heat of a moment - we all think of our lives in many ways - and try and figure out the puzzle - we are always dealt new cards we don't know how to play - so the deck is always being shuffled - all in all we just want to be happy - to be able to smile and laugh - and being content with who we are - complication was never supposed to be in the deck - but it seems to be the one card that is always around - nice poem lady Vixen - my hat is off to you for this marvelous lil tale - ^5 poet you nailed one !

Thanks scarletvelvet for your post,
Just a random poem out of the blue, I bought a pack of tarot cards and decided to dabble... Then decided to write.

Poetic meaning of tarot cards
Really nice.
I always wanted to write something on the poetic meaning of tarot cards. I see you've tried it, but to achieve another purpose, for your lovely final. Well done.
But do not be offended if I take the liberty to fix the meaning on "Hanged Man".
"I have the sensation of falling to myself forever.
I try through the maze of words,
I am the one who think and not what is thought.
I am not the feelings, I look at them from a intangible sphere in which dominate the peace." (one of the meanings of "Le Pendue" the Hanged)
It's the symbolism that was brought to this card almost a thousand years ago. (It is only a small part). This card precedes the attainment of liberation or enlightenment. Is the last card # 22 of the "Major Arcana".
There is much wisdom to be discovered.
Even if you're skeptical like me, about whether or not you can read the future by cards, or crystal Ball.
My greatest aspiration is represented by this card: The end of the journey, through the enlightenment.
It's nice to dream about the wishes of the future. If one is a dreamer like you.

Hi luca,
Thanks for your comment... No offense at all taken - damn, there are 78 cards to learn... Don't know if I will ever get the hang of them... Do you read tarot cards? And are you a dreamer, like me?
You sound like you know a lot about them.
Cheers. Vixen ;-) x

re: re: Poetic meaning of tarot cards
I believe that 99% of those who read tarot cards are charlatans. Never give money to someone who claims to be able to predict your future. The real "Initiates" do not ask you money to read your cards.
I do not think that the cards can get you to read the future. But I learned the meaning of "Major Arcana" as they have an interesting philosophical symbolism.
The authors that I prefer are: Oswald Whirt and Carl Gustav Jung.
The world of the Tarot, and especially the series of the 22 Major Arcana, was revisited and reinterpreted in recent decades by different psychological approaches.
The work proposed by several authors, many of which Jungian school, went in the direction of use of these images for meditation and self-knowledge. For a journey and discovery of their inner world.
I leave a link to a blog that I think is interesting. If you want to visit.

And yes, I'm a dreamer. Although a little disappointed.

Thank you luca,
I will definitely check out that link..
I think to dream - is what most people do... And I think most are disappointed also - but without dreams - we have nothing - dreams are what keeps us hoping for a change in the future... Keep dreaming luca and never give up on them, for one day they may become reality...
Cheers. Vixen ;-) x
