Ramsgate

He said he's from across the pond,
A place of cliffs and moors.
She sees him standing in the wind,
The ocean waves do roar.

The time is not this era now,
'Tis one of time gone by.
When two lost souls meet on the moor,
One look, a touch, a smile.

The honest, urgent stories tell,
Of sadness, pain and sorrow.
They are fitting for this lonely moor,
A promise for tomorrow.

She looks at him and sees herself,
He sees himself in her.
Together they defy all odds,
They live beyond a cure.

It matters not one week, one year,
The time is spent so well.
Their hearts are lifted when they speak,
All sadness is dispelled.

She looks across the moors at night,
She sees the light beyond.
Sir Dan of Ramsgate looks at her,
There's hope of life, new dawn.

She beckons him to join her there,
Upon the moors one day.
And look beyond the cliffs and gulls,
To a place so faraway.

'Tis Ramsgate everafter,
Sir Dan and Lady A.
Live evermore thereafter,
Amidst the gulls and waves.
