A Parting Verse
Bow down, bow down,
the sun now descends.
Wynter comes and the
year hastens to end.
Perhaps one day, our
paths will again entwine
and together we will sup
the earth's good wine
But until that day awakes
and sounds clarion calls,
heartless will be the ice
and snow that eternally falls
Through the unkind frost
we struggle and lumber,
and next to fireplace bed,
in warmth, we will slumber
And dream of days verdant
with apple and wheat
with honey for our tongues
and mead so sweet
Pray if we part that
neither shall pass.
Farewell for now, good
cheer, and raise the glass.
Alas.
Farewell for now,
good cheer,
and raise the glass.
Alas.
