My Great Surrender
Swimming in conversations
Their words are ill
The moonlight dying
Over the colorless horizon
Numb to effection
I long for no one
No soulmate
No friend
No diety peering at me
I surrender to the solitude
Crowds gather ecstatic
Finding a small distraction
Emphatically shouting
Everyone glows greatly
The sorrow isn't seen
And I mimic them
A mockingbird talking dirty
The sigh of another sunrise
I had no intention to see
The birds too bored to sing
Look right through me.
Their words are ill
The moonlight dying
Over the colorless horizon
Numb to effection
I long for no one
No soulmate
No friend
No diety peering at me
I surrender to the solitude
Crowds gather ecstatic
Finding a small distraction
Emphatically shouting
Everyone glows greatly
The sorrow isn't seen
And I mimic them
A mockingbird talking dirty
The sigh of another sunrise
I had no intention to see
The birds too bored to sing
Look right through me.
