When My Poems Won't Cooperate
I know the writing process is different
For everyone, at least for me, every time
But sometimes these thoughts gets caught
Jammed and wedged without a rhyme
The vision I thought I saw or wanted to see
Goes off into a totally different direction
Than the original idea I had in mind
Becomes a diverse piece with reflection
The words stare back at me on the page
Sending me off through an obstacle course
Laughing me at because I feel the urge
But the brainstorm takes me by force
The times when I jonesing for a good write
Or think I’m in the zone to have minds blown
I hit unknown blockades during development
Yet I feel it in my bones but change the tone
So when the poem has a mind of its own
I follow the current in whatever direction
I’m just the person listening to the spirit
Giving it a voice, a form, a lilt and inflection
For everyone, at least for me, every time
But sometimes these thoughts gets caught
Jammed and wedged without a rhyme
The vision I thought I saw or wanted to see
Goes off into a totally different direction
Than the original idea I had in mind
Becomes a diverse piece with reflection
The words stare back at me on the page
Sending me off through an obstacle course
Laughing me at because I feel the urge
But the brainstorm takes me by force
The times when I jonesing for a good write
Or think I’m in the zone to have minds blown
I hit unknown blockades during development
Yet I feel it in my bones but change the tone
So when the poem has a mind of its own
I follow the current in whatever direction
I’m just the person listening to the spirit
Giving it a voice, a form, a lilt and inflection
