Whisper

I heard a whisper
Beyond goodbye.
Good night one more time,
And a dawn we may share.
A night settled in my eyes
Without a light to guide.
Thorns of the rose in my hands:
How they pierced and how I wept
To dream of you so far away.

You stood in the cathedral,
With the candles and the grave.
Burning, I knelt to your lips
Fearing you would be dust.
I cried to see the lights surround you
With their fingers round my shadow.
I drowned in the perfume of the angels
I sensed in your heart against my own
As we fell before the doorway of the tomb.

I hoped to die.
I heard a whisper beyond my vow.
Aurora swept through your lovely eyes
There at the bleeding of the seasons:
The palets light of all wraiths
Like shadows fading between the stars.
The church was no more. The candles died.
We rose to find the crypt had fallen.
To my rejoice, you took my hand
And I heard a whisper within my love.
