Debilitating sadness
My heart is weighed down by debilitating sadness.
My brain is filled with an intoxicating madness.
Depression haunts me and I’ve always had this.
My soul is drowning in the depths of darkness.
The blade is my enemy yet my friend with its shimmering sharpness.

Depression is indeed intoxicating, and clouds our judgement. I wonder if that metaphor could be expanded? Nice work here.
