Notes from deputy to head gardener; landscape engines: 1817-1819 Woodhouse

that the garden would take care of such; the kestrel’s
stall, kills of clawed thigs; the foxes hungered
and the hunt and their piano teeth bared and ...and...
what bears had escaped, what the hunt
had produced, what they felt in their afterward, what songs they displayed
- incorrect to interpret keepsakes for always returns in:
that the garden would want/need to know in what greenhouse;
what bees, 'clapse of ‘cided wing, censured petal, soft picks
of stamen leased, skirts of beds bearing
strain of a historic game, closure bearing anything to assuage …
laid within his lists stuck on greenhouse glass: Not that of never means
but of just projects to call to create in some kinde.
manifolds of sheets of laborers and sunken things yesterday’d
cranes flitter the lily pond though water is cold
braided catmint, creeping phlox from the damns crack replanted, rare spring, cathedral
shelter for the deer
and cloches shivved, intemperate in the earth
for napoleon’s borrowed piece of lace lest it flakes in some sun, lest it come undone.

they are very significant where i am.
there was a jungian animus/anima thing i tried between the gardener and garden, i didnt think it worked first time. thanks for RL'ing again.a bit happier with it now.

Kestrels are a part of my spirit animal tribe. I typically see murmurations of them once a year. I have such an affinity with the messages they bring.

the film 'Kes' by Ken Loach was filmed in my area. it was named from an old medievil poem:
a Gyrfalcon for a King,
a Peregrine for a Prince,
a Saker for a Knight,
a Merlin for a Lady,
a Goshawk for a Yeoman,
a Sparrowhawk for a Priest,
a Musket for a Holy water Clerk,
a Kestrel for a Knave..............

thank you, its funny as I have been reading T Hughes quite a bit recently despite some of his worrying aspects as i confidently confused him with TS Eliot. both i only dipped in before.
and yep that football match. it was one of the first books i tore through. loved those 'angry young men' happy to include Hines with those for me.

Yes, agrees to TLM abov, such a refreshing style.... totally digging descripts of a subject matter expertise ...revealing layers of engaging eqivoque metaphorical revelations. Loved you kept the uncompromisingly digging subject matter talk sans any deviating planes. Kestrel reminds me of 'kestrel Cup" Quizzes in my school days of participation:) though the species itself are not very common as to other hunting birds where I am. There is an overwhewlming sense of a continuum of life of hope felt in the overall picture & narrative though the specifics take one to the manual typa monotonous observations largely inclusive of amendments outta destructive/constructive changes & chaos that in itself have cycles of lively death ~deathly life. Something a larger realization grips me overall...that is like love that is like life..& something more which I would never know or inexplicable. All I just 'feel' & that is All, that Art is :) Beautiful Unique Poetry you art nomoth! Hats off & thanks for sharing:)

'...their piano teeth bared' visually striking, very effective
a lot to unpack in this piece. deserves rereading and then some. particularly like the last 8 lines. the voice fits so well with your title. nice one.
