The world without you
After all,
You did save me
From the words he said
Before he was dead
You walked in
And made me feel
That what he said
Wasn’t actually real.
This is why I think
I love you
And it’s okay now
To let you go.
You welded into shape
The cavity of abuse
From the words he said
Those many nights with you
Heavy with your musk
Bleeding aspirin
I don’t believe in life after death
And this life is
No longer controlled
By those words
You entombed
I can talk
But only briefly
About his death
And how the whole world
Caved in and was born anew
I held you fierce
Savage
Because I had to survive.
Neither of you
Were meant to be mine
But there will be day
There will be someone.
You did save me
From the words he said
Before he was dead
You walked in
And made me feel
That what he said
Wasn’t actually real.
This is why I think
I love you
And it’s okay now
To let you go.
You welded into shape
The cavity of abuse
From the words he said
Those many nights with you
Heavy with your musk
Bleeding aspirin
I don’t believe in life after death
And this life is
No longer controlled
By those words
You entombed
I can talk
But only briefly
About his death
And how the whole world
Caved in and was born anew
I held you fierce
Savage
Because I had to survive.
Neither of you
Were meant to be mine
But there will be day
There will be someone.
