I am not "one of them"    
I am ME!    
A child of Allah    
Please open your eyes and see...    
Yes, I might wear an hijab    
Yes, I might wear an abaya    
And I use "weird words"    
Alhamdoolillah,     
Subhaan-Allah,    
Inshallah, Bishmillah,    
and when I see you I'll tell you    
Assalamu Aleykum!    
So what?     
Now that you know who I am    
If I uncover my hair    
And wear jeans,    
In your eyes, will I be the same?    
I am not "one of them"    
I am ME!!!    
Can't you see me for who I am    
Instead of what you hear?    
I know it is the media telling you     
That culture and religion is the same,  
Don't believe what is unclear.
Look how afraid you are of me,    
Can you imagine how afraid    
I might feel just walking down the street?    
People giving me the evil eye  
When all I want to do is fly away...  
What about me?    
About my feelings, do you care?
