I Wish

I looked out into the night sky
And saw my wishing star
Even though I promised myself I wouldn’t
have you enter my thoughts no more
I made a few wishes upon your name
I wished love brought us together
I wished to hold you next to me so tight
I wished to feel me in your arms
I wished to smell your presence
I wished to travel the world with you
Even if it was in our wishes
I wished I could love you with no regrets
I wished I could tell your face I love you
I squeezed my eyes and shut them tight
And asked God for one more wish
My heart ached,
yet I spoke the words
But most of all I wish
That you wished the same for me
