♪a rhymed, mirrored octet♪

CRUEL
cross of
c  a  l  v  a  r  y,
b i t t e r   though   y o u r
native   f o r e s t   t r e e,
like  the  nails  that  p i e r c e d  him
as  he  hung  upon  your  c r e s t,
sing  the  blest  r e d e m p t i o n   story
of  the  one  who  came  from  glory.
had  he  not  endured  the  test
when  sin’s  darkness  cursed  him,
man’s   i n i q u i t y
would   devour
you   and   me.
Let  l o v e
rule.
