I was a hopeful, naive little thing
when I vanished into the trees
I was still singing

I reached for the shiny things
out of reach beyond the sky
I wished I could grow wings
and that the birds could teach me
how to fly
I wanted to fly
In my sorrow
I walked into the ocean deep
where the colder things
could put me to sleep

I really loved this. While you may have meant something entirely different, it made me think of all the things we think we want but don’t need and how we’d do almost anything to get these unneeded, yet desired shiny things beyond the sky.

This piece is very relatable. It spoke of the torment of heartbreak and change.
