Problematic Love

It's painful to be in love
and yet not feel loved,

to give it your all
and not met halfway,

to go the extra mile for
someone not emotionally there.

I looked skywards hoping to hear
a voice, "Everything will be ok."

I felt a mild breeze and wished
It would blow away my problems

A wish unfulfilled
it didn't

I was not in the right state of mind,
you made my heart so numb?

It stopped beating like before
when you, came into in my life,

I've wasted years with you, thinking
you would change and love me back

but I carried the burden of love
you seemed incapable of self-love

I'm hopeful I will find love someday
I'm doubtful that it will be with you.
