Snares
Five snowflakes precisely
picked from your long dark hair
delicate rosy cheeks
you smile as I watch
the bitter dust
swept from my corners
time's brush
pausing mid air
Let's play
like we did
tickle me till el collapso
chase me through the woods
and tell me
we will never grow old
I was not to blame
for your death
but if I had taken your place
would you would write this
for me
You made promises
you didn't keep
cheated me of summers
and stole every flame
in my heart
So please go
take your oustretched hands
filled with winter forever
and let me rest
worlds away
from your memory's embrace
the ones you dangle to trap me
frozen and lifeless
in your snares
