Fate has left me

On this morning
On this bright summer day
I see upon my way
A mark
A stone
I turn
It round, and it says:

"Fate has left you"

No fate to guide me
I do not know who I am anymore
Fate used to be my light
The thing that opened every door

Because I knew there was a plan for me

Now I'm not so sure
Born into this world for nothing, can that be?
If fate is right, and denial of it wrong
Is this the image of a man who's truly free?

I wonder whether fate has always been my guardian
And if it's shining light as led me towards heaven
And even so, what's heaven but a place for the chosen?
Where souls will dwell among an elite company

Is this where I want to be?

"No one chooses what is wrong
Everyone tries to do what's right"

If that is true, then is this knowledge not a form of slavery?
A master with stern hand
That does not leave you any choice, but chooses for you
A pristine tempel for the pure
An outward place of shining gold

But in my eyes it's turned into a shadow land

I've played so many roles that I can not distinguish
Between who is the actor, who the man
But on this morning I will rise and take a step
Towards finding me among the roles of fate again

This step is a reaction to the truth
An aspiration for a freedom I have never truly known

On this morning
On this bright summer day
I see upon my way
A mark
A stone
I turn
It round, and it says:

"Fate has left you"

And I smile
