Ring of gold

Ring as gold as a ray of sun
That warms the soul
Ring of gold a soul mate gave me
Your treasure of the glory of love
Was lit up on my finger
I was beckoned to be your lover
But the promises I kept wishing for
I never owned
Ring of gold that memorized me
I held onto your love in a far away place
Clung onto it like a desperate child
I held onto your love
But we could never mend the distance in miles
That drove us further apart away
From worn promises
Spoken briefly of
That melted my heart too soon
Golden ring of love
Your meaning slipped away
As we sought out new loves in our distance
Confused loves, loves lost, loves that slipped away
All became a distortion of the true love
I lost
They could never replace all the love we had
Ring of promises
I'll never let your memory
go nor fade away
Golden ring of love
Like a sun drenched beach
The kind I keep calling up
In my mind
Like a desperate child
