For Sweet May be the Taste of Suntan Skin – Sonnet Thirty
In subtle gauges sunlight makes its way,
Through space and time and finally to you.
A soft caressing touch that softer plays
To hold its place in flesh's golden hue.
I long that I could with such touch caress
And draw from you a diff’rent color's change,
In making way to gauge our loves' confess,
To find the flush that longs for loves' exchange.
For if the sun can bring your flesh’s tan,
I wonder if my touch brings something more?
For Summer’s brown may rouse a summer man,
But deeper rose brings harder loves’ implore.
For sweet may be the taste of suntan skin,
But sweeter still the blush that bears within.
