Solemn

It wasn't the howling
That disturbed me
The silence breaking
It was the metal screeching
When Hell paid my broken heart a visit.

Hunched over like at dinner
After you worked long hours
Just to get out and see me,
Falling asleep briefly

To hear my voice
You said it was worth it
I'd get so lost in your eyes
But mine would catch you falling
My tired butterfly
The Monarch of dreams.

..........But you're not waking up anymore
...You drifted too far this time,

You always wanted to fly away from this place
I guess Heaven was your destination
When you tired to make mine by car
Your body crashed on the I-94
Closed your eyes at that wrong time

And now the sirens and flashing lights
are driving a knife in my Heart
