An Angel
At fifteenth it’s hard to take a stand
I never thought I’d be the one
Until you see your mother cry
And feel your father’s gentle hand
And God...
Gave me an angel
To find my way
I fought so hard
For my soul to sing
Songs from me to you
From the birth of a new day
I guess I couldn’t see it then
Honors has no participation trophy
I worked hard and not just for me
Now my life is a reflection of time and time again
And God...
Gave me an angel
To find my way
I fought so hard
For my soul to sing
Songs from me to you
From the birth of a new day
Birth of a new day
So many miles but we’re never apart
When my sun is setting low
I think of you as your sun is on the rise
Even in the spotlight you’re always in my heart
And God... (and God)
Gave me an angel
To find my way
I fought so hard
For my soul to sing
Songs from me to you
From the birth of a new day
Birth of a new day
You’re always and forever my new day
I never thought I’d be the one
Until you see your mother cry
And feel your father’s gentle hand
And God...
Gave me an angel
To find my way
I fought so hard
For my soul to sing
Songs from me to you
From the birth of a new day
I guess I couldn’t see it then

I worked hard and not just for me
Now my life is a reflection of time and time again
And God...
Gave me an angel
To find my way
