MY STAR
I was a child when I first met you in my dreams
Free playing by the river, catching the tadpoles in your tiny hands
Insisting the birds and butterflies were yours to care for, that they spoke with you
Loved by you as you were their princess, to care for all of the creatures to weak to care for themselves
You insisted on making by hand a home for the fairies to land
Gathering the twigs and leaves, the greenest grass, the longest blades
Soft enough to make natures angels a place where when you went to care for them they had a place to sleep, a place they could call their home
You would crawl on your knees to find the perfect food for them, only leaves that had dew would do for your creatures
Captured by the rain that had fallen from the sky and was kissed by the birds to bring your fairies a drink
You would find dead bugs to feed them or put the bugs in a tiny grave to give them back to the earth
The beetles that were on their backs you would set free
No one could help them but you, after all these were your creatures
They came to you for their future you had explained, that's why you spoke with them and that's why you could hear them
You insisted that they could not have been given to anyone but you
They were made for you and you were safe with them and as they grew they knew that they were safe with you
As you grew you still saw the nature of an animal or the largest of creatures as something you can relate to
After all you were born like them pure and true
I knew you we mine the first moment I dreamt of you
You the secret gift of the perfect note from the perfect song
I knew I had carried the music inside me for so long I had no idea that the musical masterpiece was you. And forever you will be my favorite song.
