It's Not Too Hot In The Shade
The future swirls around in my coffee
a rich hazelnut taste
with the right amount of sugar
a fixture, I'm falling
glued to my lips
gifting an early morning kiss
it's hot
but don't you know
it gets hotter in a desert
of loneliness and desperation
it's cooler in the shade
where silhouettes speak softly
under sheets of satin
as senses release and exhilarate
the sun moves off into the distance
still, the memories have just begun
